'PUBG' Passes 3 Million Players on Xbox One

A preview version of PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds launched on Xbox One a month ago and it's already passed three million players, Xbox says.

PUBG didn't have the smoothest launch on Microsoft's console. Digital Foundry did an in-depth breakdown of the Xbox One and Xbox One X versions, and it found they both suffered from inconsistent framerates. "You're instantly besieged by low resolution textures that seem to be failing to stream in properly," it notes, "combined with performance just above or below the 20fps threshold."

The PUBG team has been actively working to improve the game since launch. It's already released four updates, and Xbox GM of Games Marketing Aaron Greenberg says fans will continue to see regular patches roll out, including this week's addition of first-person support for solo, duo, and squads gameplay.
