'Cuphead' Ripoff Briefly Appears on The App Store

If you come across a version of Cuphead on the Apple App Store, don't buy it – it's a scam. TouchArcade reported earlier today the cartoonish run-and-gunner had a surprise iOS launch. It costs $4.99 and lists Cuphead developer StudioMDHR as the seller. It also shows screenshots from the PC and Xbox One versions of the game. But, the real StudioMDHR says it's a fake.

According to The Verge, the iOS port is playable, but feels a bit off. The backgrounds are reportedly low-resolution and the animations look primitive. Plus, some basic elements like the menu screen are not adapted to a touchscreen.

Apple pulled the app from the store this morning, but you can see an archived version of it here.
