'Painkiller' and 'Painkiller: Battle Out of Hell' Removed From German 'Index'
Two of the Painkiller games have been removed from Germany's list of media harmful to young persons (aka the "Index"), publisher THQ Nordic announced today. The Index aims to protect minors from content the government feels could have a "severely damaging impact" on their educations and development. This often includes video game violence. After successfully arguing to remove the Red Faction series from the list back in 2015 (shameless plug: I wrote about it for Polygon at the time), THQ Nordics says the full, uncensored versions of Painkiller and Painkiller: Battle Out of Hell have been shoved off the Index in a totally non-violent manner.
