'Dungeons & Dragons' Returns to Mobile Gaming With 'Warriors of Waterdeep'

Wizards of the Coast and mobile game publisher Ludia are teaming up to bring Dungeons & Dragons to smartphones and tablets. Warriors of Waterdeep is a free-to-play turn-based role-playing game based on the Forgotten Realms campaign setting. Ludia tells GamesBeat it will include aspects of classic D&D combat. Yes, there will be gelatinous cubes. No, you can't visit Undermountain (yet). Players will have 12 character classes to choose from, and nine races. The game will sell card packs, which are used to customize characters and upgrade equipment.

This is the first D&D mobile game since Arena of War in 2013. It shut down the following year. Warriors of Waterdeep comes out this spring.
