When “a better Batman Vs. Superman story than the movie” has become as tired a meme as “still a better love story than Twilight” it takes a lot to make it worth trotting out again, but here it is: Injustice: Gods Among Us was a better Batman Vs. Superman story than the movie. Injustice 2 took those action figures out of the toybox again, and also added in some characters found buried deeper in the pile like Gorilla Grodd and Power Girl. In the ways that count it wa the same thing again – Mortal Kombat only with superheroes and a batpoop crazy storyline involving Superman becoming a tyrant and green pills that give low-powered heroes the strength to take him on. Superman can still hurl people around from orbit, and they can still bounce back with only a dent in their health bar, and it still looks awesome every time. Only more so, as the facial animations are surprisingly detailed and characterful and there's a gear system that lets you personalize each character like you're cosplaying them, which is a heck of a fantasy for a game that is fundamentally about Supergirl punching a gorilla through a wall to get right.
