Are we any closer to ever seeing Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor in the same ring in the great boxing vs MMA super fight? Following months of public trash talking between the two, a pair of offers were recently made in the hope of putting the wheels in motion. The problem: Mayweather’s offer wasn’t anywhere near the figure McGregor is looking for and Mayweather couldn’t stop laughing at UFC president Dana White’s offer of $25 million each.
So here we are, stuck in limbo while we wait to see how it all plays out.
There’s plenty of reason to believe we will never actually see Mayweather and McGregor fight each other – although the money and egos involved means we’ll never stop talking about the possibility – but we now have a pretty good idea of how it would go down thanks to the Nintendo classic, Mike Tyson’s Punch-Out!!
Artist Adam Arnali recently created a video of the “dream fight” in 8-bit graphics, which features some classic Mayweather hugs, plenty of trash talk and a rather gruesome ending for Mayweather that sees McGregor getting disqualified for bringing mixed martial arts into a boxing ring in a way that looks totally hilarious in vintage, 1980s video game style.
If this video doesn’t motivate Mayweather and McGregor to get something done soon, we officially have no hope in the world.
