It didn’t take Anthony Davis long to find the personal assistant he was looking for.
Earlier this week, Davis took to Craigslist in search of an assistant based in New Orleans for the upcoming NBA season. Among the duties involved for that position: Dry cleaning runs, doing media interviews, keeping a low profile and standing at least 6-foot-5 with a “unibrow or heavy eyebrows.” There shouldn’t be any doubt that it was actually from Davis, either, since he shared the job opportunity with his 2.2 million followers on Facebook.
Unfortunately for those who did apply, the position was quickly filled because it was nothing more than a marketing campaign by Red Bull, who has sponsored the Pelicans star since he was drafted No. 1 by the franchise in 2012. On Tuesday, they revealed that Tony Bot – a “diminutive robot” whose one job is to get things done for Davis – will take care of his business starting from this season.
In the first of what we can only imagine will be a lengthy video series – think Pepsi’s “Uncle Drew” – Tony Bot starts a dance craze with “The Tony,” which is more or less what happens when the dancing world and basketball world overlap. You can even download the commercial’s song, “The Tony” by Big Freedia, off of Red Bull website if you’re so inclined.
