Watch a Skateboarder Eat Sh-t, Still Set a New Speed Record

Mischo Erban sets a new world record by going nearly 60 miles per hour on his e-board – when then wheels weren’t falling off

Mischo Erban is no stranger to the incredible, but he may have just outdone himself.

Odds are, you’ve come across Erban’s work in the past. As a downhill skateboarder (that’s a real thing), he went viral a few years ago when he zoomed down a slope at a terrifying 80.83 miles per hour. He’s shattered a number of other world records since, including his most recent feat: setting a new mark for the fastest speed ever recorded on an electric skateboard.

With help from Next Generation Vehicles, a company based in Slovenia that develops “electric drives for electric vehicles,” Erban made the most of Portoroz Airport’s flat runways, and was clocked at 59.55 mph on his prototype e-skateboard. Even more impressive? The fact that he walked away from a wicked fall, which occurred when one of the wheels came flying off his board (maybe they were prototypes too?) Hey, no one ever said setting a world record would be easy.

“Guinness World Records helps drive innovation and individuality,” Mischo said after setting the mark. “Before GWR, people and companies were kind of locked into previously existing competitions and disciplines, but then the dynamism of record breaking opened up a space and let us go into new directions. And I like setting new directions and achieving!”

Whatever you say, man. Mischo’s e-board has been in development for nearly two years, and we should probably get used to seeing them. Next Gen is currently developing a new racing competition based solely on their electric longboards. Let’s just hope they don’t randomly combust like those damn hoverboards.
