Serena Williams Uses Super Powers to Chase Down Phone Thief

A warning to any would-be thieves out there: If you steal Serena Williams’ phone, be prepared to get your ass kicked.
On Wednesday, Williams shared a story on Facebook about a recent meal at a Chinese restaurant (it was “delicious,” FYI) that was rudely interrupted when a sleazeball swiped her phone. As the story goes, she was minding her own business when a strange man sidled up to her table – a move that had Serena’s “Superhero Sense” tingling. Since her instincts told her that something wasn’t quite right, she watched and waited.
And when the dude tried to pull a fast one, Williams was ready to pounce.
“When least expected, lo and behold this common, petty thief grabbed my phone and swiftly left,” Williams wrote. “I looked at the chair, then shouted ‘OMG, that dude took my phone!’ Not thinking, I reacted. I jumped up, weaved my way in and out of the cozy restaurant (leaping over a chair or two) and chased him down.”
The thief tried to outrun Williams, but she quickly caught him (“Those sprints came in handy,” she wrote) and hit him with her “most menacing, yet calm, no-nonsense voice” to get back what was hers. The thief, probably not expecting to be chased down, stumbled with his words before coming up with an excuse – the classic “I must have grabbed the wrong phone” – and returned it to its rightful owner. That led Williams to the moral of the story: Always listen to your Superhero Sense.
“Always keep your things close! Fight for what’s right. Stand for what you believe in! Be a superhero!” she wrote. “When I got back into the restaurant, I received a standing ovation. I was proud. I just showed every man in there I can stand up to bullies and other men. It was a win for the ladies!”
