Russell Wilson Gets Trolled by the St. Louis Rams

St. Louis’ social team gets sweet revenge after the Seahawks’ QB all but guaranteed a Week 1 win on Twitter

Take note, Russell Wilson: Don’t feed the Twitter trolls.

The Seahawks headed into Sunday’s game against the St. Louis Rams as 4.5 point favorites, and they were a little cocky about it. Wilson, presumably taking a break from Instagramming pics of Ciara, even went so far as to tweet “1-0. #GoHawks” before kickoff, because what could possibly go wrong?

Turns out, pretty much everything. In a back-and-forth game, Seattle scored 18 points in the fourth quarter to take the lead, saw the Rams tie it up on a late touchdown pass from Nick Foles, biffed the opening kick in overtime, then watched as St. Louis’ defense stuffed Marshawn Lynch on fourth down to seal the upset victory (this after Beast Mode opened the game by taking the entire city, including Nelly and all the St. Lunatics, for a ride). And, naturally, the Rams weren’t about to let Wilson forget about his pregame prediction.

That’s high-quality trolling (something Rams coach Jeff Fisher knows all about). To rub salt in the wound, St. Louis running back Benny Cunningham had a personal message for Wilson after the game: “1-0, baby! That’s the real tweet. Retweet that!”

With his mentions likely blowing up to oblivion, Wilson clarified his message after the game by saying the Seahawks’ goal is to “go 1-0 every week.” Plausible? Sure. But for all we know, that could be the Recovery Water talking.
