Ronda Rousey Offered UFC 207 Title Fight?

It looks like we might see Ronda Rousey in the Octagon before the end of the year. For real, this time.
Earlier in the week, UFC president Dana White hinted at Rousey’s highly anticipated return in an interview with Brazilian newspaper O Globo. Beyond saying that a showdown between Rousey and Cris “Cyborg” is still the “dream fight” – it helps that Cyborg continues to throw shade at Rousey at every opportunity she gets – White hinted that her return would likely be for a shot at the title, which naturally pins her against current bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes.
Sources then told Sporting News that if Rousey does indeed return this year, it will be at UFC 207 on Dec. 31 against Nunes.
Adding to all that hype is Rousey’s trainer, Edmond Tarverdyan, who spoke to ESPN about how she is progressing. No decision has been made about when Rousey will fight for the first time since Holly Holm knocked her out at UFC 193, according to Tarverdyan, but there’s “a chance” she fights to get her belt back before the year comes to a close.
“There have been talks about her coming back, but we haven’t made a final decision yet,” Tarverdyan said. “There’s a chance she fights to get her belt back this year, but nothing is set yet. If we do make a comeback this year, we will. If not, we will make it next year. We want to thank all our fans for being patient.”
FOX Sports took it a step further by saying Rousey has actually been offered the fight with Nunes and that she is yet to make a decision. Based on Nunes’ Instagram page, though, we should all expect some exciting fight news in the coming days.
