The UFC’s oddly irritable weed enthusiast definitely got down to business on the stoniest day of the year, determined not to let Conor McGregor’s decision to walk away from their rematch at UFC 200 harsh his mellow. Instead, he fired up Instagram and posted a photo of Bob Marley, complete with his oft-repeated (when we can, like, remember it, man) mantra: “When you smoke the herb it reveals you to yourself.”
Totally. We’re not sure what happened next, but after Diaz joked he’d be retiring right alongside McGregor, maybe he finally got to use that personalized bong? Either way, you know Julian Marley was proud.
But maybe Diaz should be careful with how much he advertises his appreciation for the herb. While McGregor wants us all to believe that he’s done with MMA, we might not have seen the last of him in the Octagon. UFC know-it-all Joe Rogan isn’t buying his retirement tweet, and one report says McGregor’s announcement comes shortly after the UFC declined to give him around $10 million for UFC 200.
In other word, there’s still a chance McGregor hasn’t retired, which means Diaz would miss out on a huge payday if he fails a drug test and earns a lengthy suspension like his brother. Of course, that’s assuming Diaz even cares – we all know he has a long history of not giving a fuck.
