Key & Peele, Stephen Colbert Show Off More Excessive Touchdown Dances

Comedy duo’s unsportsmanlike wide receiver teams with late-night host for new round of crazy end zone dances

Even though Key & Peele‘s Comedy Central series has ended, the duo were still everywhere on Super Sunday, from a Squarespace ad to providing commentary on the Big Game to a new trailer for their upcoming film Keanu. Following Super Bowl 50, Jordan Peele and Keegan-Michael Key appeared on Late Show to revive one of their sketch comedy series’ most beloved sketches, the football-themed “McCringleberry’s Excessive Celebration.”

In the original sketch, Key’s wide receiver Hingle McCringleberry purposefully draws the ire of Peele’s referee by thrusting too much during his touchdown celebration. For the Late Show, McCringleberry was joined on the field by Colbert’s Kimble Mathias for a new series of over-the-top celebrations, like basting the football like a turkey, “Frontier Justice” and an end zone bouncy castle.

Incidentally, the NFL fined Super Bowl MVP Von Miller earlier this season for paying homage to the original McCringleberry sketch during an actual football game. Key and Peele then donated the same amount as Miller’s fine to the linebacker’s charity, Von’s Vision.
