Milos Raonic just may be the next big thing in tennis.

Milos Raonic and the Future of Tennis

At just 23 years old, he’s ranked 9th in the world, has won 5 tournaments and possesses perhaps the most devastating serve in recent memory, a picture-perfect example of kinetic motion that culminates in a thunderous delivery from high atop his 6’5″ frame (“It’s like he’s serving from the fourth floor,” one sports journalist put it). And yet, unless you are an avid fan of the game, there’s a pretty good chance you’ve never heard of him…and not just because he’s Canadian.

After all, for the past decade, tennis has been dominated by four names—Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer and Andy Murray. Raonic has battled them all, even beating Murray last year. Now, as he begins the quest for his first Wimbledon title (he defeated Matthew Ebden in straight sets on Tuesday), he’s looking to break through into the sport’s upper echelon, one massive serve at a time.

Still, he’s a work in progress; so far, a Grand Slam championship has eluded him, and he’s yet to take down Rafa, Feds or Djoko. His serve may be booming, but his game remains a touch one-sided…man can’t live on service alone. But he’s getting better every day.

Don’t believe us? Just check out the new Men’s Journal feature on Raonic, where he breaks down his game, discusses his journey and reveals his plan to overthrow tennis’ elite. Poised for greatness, and with potential to spare, there’s still time to get in on the ground floor, before he serves from the fourth: Get to know Milos Raonic, Canadian Cannon.
