Golden State Warriors Nearly Unbeatable According to Las Vegas

The Golden State Warriors set an NBA record in 2015-16 by winning 73 games in the regular season. They then pulled off a miraculous comeback in the Western Conference Finals against the Oklahoma City Thunder, only to cough up a 3-1 lead like nobody has done before in the NBA Finals to LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers.

To no surprise, Las Vegas thinks adding Kevin Durant – a former MVP who has led the league in scoring four times throughout his career – to that group will make them practically unstoppable. On Tuesday, when Vegas released the over/under win totals for every team in the NBA next season, the Warriors topped the list with a whopping 66.5 wins.

For reference, the Warriors were slated to win 59.5 games last season.

While that number in itself might not be too shocking (even though it’s actually the highest regular season over/under we’ve ever seen), it’s 10 wins greater than what the Cavaliers and Spurs are currently projected. And, according to SuperBook oddsmaker Jeff Sherman, that big of a gap between the best team and second best team(s) is highly unusual.

“It’s really an outlier for the Warriors to be as separated as they are,” Sherman told ESPN.

However, while almost 60 percent of the money bet thus far has been on the Warriors to win the NBA title, the New York Knicks have reportedly received the most overall bets. Their odds to win it all? 80-1.
