Colin Kaepernick has had some time to think recently – being out for the season tends to afford one that luxury.

Of course, even if he didn’t get sidelined with a bum shoulder, it would be pretty hard for the 49ers’ quarterback – or anyone, really – to escape Donald Trump’s ongoing anti-Muslim rhetoric, which includes a calling for “a total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States.” A petition to keep him out of the United Kingdom has been signed by half a million people, and everyone from Charles Barkley to Muhammad Ali have also spoken out against the GOP frontrunner, who inexplicably still holds a huge lead in the polls over his fellow Republican presidential hopefuls.

Anyway, back to Kap, who the 49ers want you to believe is in their long-term plans. On Thursday, he posted a series of photos on Instagram, each calling Trump out for a different reason, and closed it all with a quote from retired Air Force Colonel Thomas Moe alongside the caption “Food for thought!”

“But think about this. If [Trump] keeps going and he actually becomes president, he might just get around to you, and you better hope that there’s someone left to help you,” the quote reads.

This probably isn’t the last we’ve heard from Kaepernick on this matter – let’s be honest, it’s only a matter of time until Trump says something else that sends this country into a frenzy. While we wait, has anyone asked Tom Brady how he feels about the Donald’s planned Muslim ban?
