Chicago White Sox Break Most Dogs in Attendance Record
The Chicago White Sox held their annual “Bark at the Park” on Tuesday – a night in which fans are allowed to bring their dogs with them into U.S Cellular Field – only with a slight twist. In the hopes of setting a Guinness World Record, they needed at least 1000 dogs to stay in their outfield seats for a 10-minute period in the third inning to take home the certificate for the most dogs attending a sporting event.
Oh, and if you didn’t think the White Sox were actually taking it seriously, think again.

The White Sox went on to shatter the world record with 1,122 dogs in attendance (or #SoxDogs as they like to call them), which they proudly showed off once they received the certificate to make it official. To make the occasion even sweeter, the team went on to win the game – something that hasn’t come so easy to them this season – thanks to a seven-run inning shortly after they announced the world record to the crowd.
In other words: Without the dogs, there’s no way the victory would’ve been possible.
“[The dogs] were a little noisy but it’s kind of fun,” outfielder Adam Eaton told the Chicago Tribune. “It brings a different atmosphere to the ballpark. I think that’s one of the beauties of The Cell, really nothing is off limits.”
