Cam Newton Is Out of F–ks to Give, Vows to ‘Win My Way’

After making headlines for all the wrong reasons at Super Bowl 50, Cam Newton broke his silence earlier this week by addressing the critics who castigated him for abruptly leaving his postgame press conference.
“I’m human. I never once said I was perfect,” he told reporters. “I’m a sore loser. Who likes to lose? You show me a good loser, and I’ll show you a loser. It’s not a popularity contest. I’m here to win football games.”
Fair enough. But clearly, a few minutes with the media wasn’t enough to clear the air, because Newton took to Instagram on Friday to share a message with the nation. First, he thanked Panthers fans for their support during the team’s historic season and promised to keep working towards being a better man. Then, he hammered home his message about staying true – or, uh, “TRÜ” – to himself with hashtags like “#dontBEaPUPPET” and “#stayTRÜtoÜ.”
“Pursuing greatness is my commitment, and I will continue to be TRÜ to myself, to my FAM1LY and to making all of YOÜ who follow me PROUD!” Newton wrote. “iW1LL W1N…MY WAY… and hope to iNSP1REüALLtoW1N.”
Words weren’t the only way Newton sent a message, either. He’s sporting a “I Win My Way” T-shirt in the photo with framed pictures of Muhammad Ali and John Wooden in the background – far from a coincidence seeing as both photos feature famous quotes about bouncing back from defeat and being selfless. You know, just in case him saying “I’m not about to conform [to] anybody’s expectations” wasn’t a big enough indicator that he’s out of fucks to give.
