If you want to know how unexpected it is for the Atlanta Falcons to be one of the two NFL teams still standing at this point of the season, Las Vegas has you covered.

As you know by now, the Falcons took down Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers on Sunday to advance to the Super Bowl for only the second time in franchise history. The thing is very few people ever saw them making it this far before the season began. In the offseason, some Las Vegas sportsbooks changed their Super Bowl odds for the Falcons quite significantly from 40-1 to 100-1 in an effort to generate more bets.

The crazy part of it all? Not only did it do little to move the needle, CG Technology actually took more bets on the Cleveland Browns winning Super Bowl LI – a team that, if you need to be reminded, won just one game this season – than the Falcons.

“We took a $5,000 bet at 40-1 on the Falcons to win the Super Bowl,” CG Technology Vice President Jason Simbal told ESPN. “And we still win almost a million on the Falcons. That’s how few people bet them.”

According to ESPN, William Hill has 184 tickets on the Falcons with at least 100-1 odds. MGM’s sportsbook only has 31 bets on the Falcons at 75-1 odds. As for the Patriots, they were basically the hottest pick all season long, which shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone.
