Will.I.Am Sued by Clothing Line Bearing His Name

TMZ reports that the streetwear label I.Am.Clothing is suing Black Eyed Peas frontman Will.I.Am for $2 million for breaking a deal to assist with the brand’s design, marketing and promotion. The agreement, supposedly inked in 2010, was expected to last through 2016, though Will.I.Am has allegedly abandoned his role in it. The singer maintains that the deal had expired.
Will.I.Am’s efforts to start a brand under his name date back to 2005, when he launched a denim collection (then called I.Am.Antik) at the Las Vegas tradeshow Magic; then, he even landed some of the items in Los Angeles boutiques. He then changed direction, pledging to launch a men’s line under the I.Am banner in 2009.
Given the fact that the site hasn’t been updated in well over a year, it looks like trouble has been brewing in the Will.I.Am vs. I.Am camp for some time.
