Verzion iPhone Breaks Sales Record, AT&T Weeps
On Friday, preorders of Verzion’s iPhone 4 broke the company’s all-time single day sales records for a lone device in just two hours, despite being available only to existing customers before the break of dawn.
Available exclusively to current Verizon subscribers between the hours of 3AM-5AM Thursday morning as part of a special promotion, more phones were sold in 120 minutes than any of the company’s previous first day launches. Within 17 hours, the company had sold out its initial run of devices, prompting it to end its initial preorder program. But no sales figures have been provided, which could indicate either high demand or limited supply.
The Verizon iPhone 4, which experts say may improve call clarity, signal strength and Internet connectivity, and adds WiFi hotspot capability for five devices, will be available to the general public on February 10th. For more information, see our guide to AT&T vs. Verizon iPhone 4 models.
