With another season as an American Idol judge confirmed and a new Aerosmith album in the works, tireless rock veteran Steven Tyler’s star is in no danger of fading any time soon. As proof his appeal enjoys no limits, Tyler will serve as the official ambassador for Andrew Charles, a new “musical clothing line” introduced by Andy Hilfiger (brother of Tommy), which launchs next month.

What does Andrew Charles look like? Exactly like what you might expect, it seems. “It’s all very ‘70s, very gypsy, very boho. And that’s what our line is about.” Hilfiger told Blackbook recently. Tyler’s infamous neck apparel, leather attire, and proclivity for animal prints serves as major visual inspiration for Andrew Charles, which will encompass both men’s and womenswear.

Branding for the line will be expressly rock-oriented: the logo features a guitar pick with a star, as well as Tyler’s image on the hangtag, while video exclusives featuring Tyler will air at the Macy’s locations exclusively selling the line. Naturally, a few personal appearances by Tyler are also in the works; apparently, the clothes will also feature prominently on American Idol. In the future, Hilfiger tells WWD he’d also like to do “a line of guitars and amps and other products ‘out of the norm’.” He also is actively recording his own project with band, The X Brothers.

Rock Scarf, a neckwear line also in development, is where Tyler’s influence is most paramount, though some of the women’s coats (worn by Tyler’s daughter, Chelsea, in promotional photos) effectively channel Tyler’s leopard obsession. The women’s line also carries its styling cues from dreamy bohemians like Marianne Faithfull, Stevie Nicks and Anita Pallenberg, according to WWD, and will feature lace, sheer knits, and Indian decorative flourishes.

As with any style homage to rock ‘n roll, denim is key: everything from statements in snakeskin denim to skinny and bell-bottom fits will be included in the line. Hilfiger notes to Blackbook that the flares are one of his personal favorites. After all, does anything else perfectly encapsulate the 70s like a well-fluted pair of bell bottoms?

Only Steven Tyler wearing them, of course.
