Smartphone or Portable Windows PC: You Decide

A portable PC running Windows 7 Home Premium that doubles as a smartphone, AdvanceTC’s Magic W3 hopes to further blur the lines between desktop computing and mobility. Beyond making calls, the cellular handset, equipped with a 4.8-inch WVGA screen, can run full-fledged software programs, display 720p high-definition videos and play back favorite digital songs.

Compatible with standard PC software programs, rather than less fully-featured apps, the device packs a 1.6Ghz Intel Atom processor, 1GB of RAM and 32GB SSD drive, making it suitable for everyday tasks and low-end to mid-range applications. Attach the phone to a docking port, and it can also synchronize with a USB or Bluetooth mouse and keyboard or larger monitor via HDMI to give it more desktop-like capabilities. Connectivity options include GSM Quad Band and 3.5G HSPA support, as well as WiFi b/g wireless capability and a GPS transceiver. Multitasking and videoconferencing options will also be built-in.

Able to run in portrait or landscape mode, the device also quickly leaps from standby mode to awareness when voice calls or SMS messages are incoming to help converse battery life. No price or release date has been announced.
