On Saturday, July 21st, Pink Floyd bassist Roger Waters will concludes his tour of The Wall in Quebec City’s Plaines D’Abraham. The concert will include Waters’ biggest wall to date, measuring 800 feet and equipped with surround-sound, lights and pyrotechnics.
The finale will also incorporate radio frequency identification (RFID) technology from innovative Intellitix to promote Amnesty International, Rogers’ longheld cause.
“Ticket-holders’ RFID wristbands can be linked to their social media profiles and then used to check in, update status and post updates or photos directly to their profile while at a festival,” Intellitix co-founder Serge Grimaux tells Rolling Stone. Audience members will be able to post a special message from Amnesty International and Roger Waters during the performance. The 70,000 expected attendees will also use the wristband to gain entry to the show.
Innovative Intellitix first tested this Live Click project at Coachella, where 30,000 fans generated an audience of 30 million online. At Bonnaroo, Live Click was used to upload 20,000 photos on Facebook.
“What these festivals have proven is that the leitmotif of Intellitix creation, creating a bridge between the physical and digital worlds, is something music fans are embracing wholeheartedly,” Grimaux says.
Waters’ Wall tour, which won the 2012 Pollstar Concert Industry Award for “Most Creative Stage Production,” will pull out all the stops in Quebec. It will be the second biggest outdoor production of The Wall ever, falling short only to the 1990 concert in Berlin following the reunification of Germany.
