Report: Lady Gaga to Cover ‘Vogue’ Mag Again, Release ‘Fame’ Perfume

Lady Gaga is set to dominate September. Not only will she reveal details of her anticipated third album that month but she will also reportedly grace the cover of Vogue again, and this time for the year’s most important issue. The magazine won’t confirm that she is on the cover of their venerable fall preview issue, but this is common protocol for the publication; WWD – the fashion industry’s news bible – reported that the cover has already been shot by the colorful direction duo Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott. Vogue has every reason to welcome the pop icon back to their pages: their March 2011 cover, which featured the singer in a pink wig, was one of their most successful issues ever.
As the magazine hits shelves, Gaga will also be launching her debut fragrance. This morning, news broke that Flare editor Lisa Tant twitpic’d a fleeting glimpse of the perfume, including an image of the bottle and information on the fragrance notes. Tant has since removed the content but she did provide clues about the fragrance’s name and origin. Originally thought to be called “Monster,” the scent seems to have been retitled to the more glamorous “Fame.” She also reportedly included a snippet from Gaga’s press preview in which the singer claimed: “It was taken out of my own blood sample, so it’s a sense of having me on your skin.”
Update: After the leaked, low-quality photos caused a stir, Lady Gaga took matters into her own hands, and gave “Fame” a more noble Instagram preview. “Looks like photos of my perfume are being leaked. Oh fashion editors I could just crinkle my hands at you!” she tweeted. The bottle is ovoid; its fluid is inky and black, but will spray on clear, thanks to the miracles of “black water technology.” It will smell as poetic as it looks, but fortunately, the fragrance will not reek of blood and semen, as Gaga initially hinted. Instead, it contains a roster of emo notes: “tears of belladonna,” “crushed heart of tiger orchidea,” “a black veil of incense,” “the combinative essences of saffron and honeydrops,” and “pulverized apricots.”
