Obama to Appoint Jon Bon Jovi to White House Council
President Obama has announced that he wants to appoint Jon Bon Jovi to the White House Council on Community Solutions, which advises the president on how nonprofits, businesses and governmental offices can work together to solve specific community needs. McCartney to Perform at London’s 100 Club
Paul McCartney, fresh from appearances on Jimmy Fallon, Saturday Night Live and at New York’s Apollo Theater, will open his brief British tour with a show at London’s tiny 100 Club on Friday. The club, which opened in 1942 and has hosted performances by artists ranging from Louis Armstrong to the Sex Pistols, faces closure due to rising rents if 500,000 pounds is not raised by the end of next year. Several Rolling Stones alums, including guitarists Ron Wood and Mick Taylor, played a benefit gig at the club earlier this month. [NME]

Gwyneth Paltrow Ponders Solo LP
Gwyneth Paltrow, who’s gotten high marks for her singing on Glee and in the forthcoming film Country Strong, is thinking about what her solo album might sound like. “I think if I was going to make a country record, it would be like a super-bare, kind of stripped-back kind of country,” she said. “Like a little bit of bluegrass-influenced kind of thing.” But she also said that she loved singing Cee Lo’s “Fuck You” on Glee, saying that he had passed along some “incredibly sweet” comments about her version. Shaun Ryder, Stacey Solomon Cover “Fairytale of New York”
Former Happy Mondays singer Shaun Ryder and X Factor finalist Stacey Solomon are releasing a cover of the Christmas hit “Fairytale of New York,” originally recorded by the Pogues and the late Kirsty MacColl in 1987. Solomon was recently voted the winner of the 10th season of I’m a Celebrity … Get Me Out of Here!, beating out Ryder. [NME]

Time has named Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, founder of Facebook and subject of The Social Network, its Person of the Year 2010: “For connecting more than half a billion people and mapping the social relations among them; for creating a new system of exchanging information; and for changing how we all live our lives.” [Time]
