Play Nice: No Escaping the ‘TRON’ Movie, Music, Apps and Video Game

TRON, the 1982 cult classic that committed arcade culture to the big screen, lives again not only in the forthcoming flick TRON: Legacy, but of course, a new video game: TRON: Evolution, available now for PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Notably, the movie sequel’s soundtrack is by French house duo Daft Punk, and the game’s glowing Frisbee duels and phosphorescent light cycle races are supplemented by two tracks from that album: “Derezzed” and “The Grid.” Electronic composers Sascha Dikiciyan (musical score and boss battles), Cris Velasco (in-game movies) and Kevin Manthei (ambient audio) also contributed to game audio, an essential component of the virtual reality title’s otherworldly ambience.
The soundtrack, which is 22 songs, comes with a free iPhone and iPod touch app offering playable retro-futuristic takes on the franchise’s tank and light cycle games.
