Legend of Zelda Concert Series Plays Los Angeles in October

Previously announced at annual videogame industry tradeshow E3, Nintendo’s The Legend of Zelda symphony concert series will be coming to Los Angeles’ Pantages Theatre on October 21st. Tickets will go on-sale August 1st for $35 via Ticketmaster.

Appearances in future cities are planned, but won’t happen until 2012, when the tour kicks off a wider run throughout North America, with possible Japanese and European engagements to follow. Concerts will feature a 70-piece orchestra and choir, and feature songs from the bestselling fantasy dungeon crawling series chosen by famed Nintendo composer Koji Kondo. Shows are being produced by the team behind “PLAY! A Video Game Symphony.”

The Legend of Zelda has few peers in the pantheon of video game giants, and the games and their music have always shared a deep connection,” said Scott Moffitt, Nintendo of America executive vice president of sales and marketing. “Through these concerts, fans nationwide will be able to gather and show their love for the quarter century of action, adventure and excitement that The Legend of Zelda games have brought to their lives.”

Part of the storied franchise’s 25th anniversary celebration, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D recently released on Nintendo 3DS, with upcoming Wii title The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword to follow this holiday season. Enthusiasts will also be able to download classic multiplayer outing The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords free in September via the DSi/DSi XL’s DSiWare service, or the Nintendo 3DS’s eShop storefront.
