Katt Williams Arrested After Punching Pool Store Employee

Katt Williams was arrested on battery charges in Gainesville, Georgia Monday after the comedian allegedly punched a pool store employee during an argument. Williams was charged with misdemeanor battery in the incident and booked in nearby Hall County Jail on $5,000 bail, a Hall County Sheriff’s Department spokesperson confirmed to the Gainesville Times.
According to a different store employee, Williams, two women and two bodyguards entered the Leslie’s Pool Supplies Monday morning. It’s unclear what Williams and the store employee argued about, but the comedian first threw a pair of goggles at the employee, the witness said. Williams then went behind the counter and punched the employee he was arguing with.
When police arrived on the scene, Williams was “lying on the ground with his hands behind his back as though he was ready to go to jail,” Gainesville police Sgt. Kevin Holbrook told the Gainesville Times. When police attempted to question the comedian, “Mr. Williams was not forthcoming with any information,” Holbrook said.
The battery charge is Williams’ brush with the law as he and former Death Row mogul Suge Knight await trial stemming from a September 2014 robbery. In that incident, photographer Leslie Redden claimed that Williams and Knight threatened her, assaulted her and stole her camera in Beverly Hills. Knight and Williams pleaded not guilty to those charges in October. Redden also sued the pair following the incident.
In July 2014, Williams was sued by his former tour manager for assault and battery who claimed that Williams hit him “with such force and power that he was rendered unconscious for a period of 90 seconds.” Williams was also arrested five times over the span of two months in 2013.
