Google+ Social Network Soars Past 25 Million Users

Social network is fastest growing of all time, according to comScore

Google+ has rocketed past 25 million users in one month, making online search giant Google’s venture the fastest-growing social network of all-time, according to online traffic tracking outfit comScore.

By comparison, it took rival services Facebook three years, MySpace two years, and Twitter 30 months to grow their audiences to the same size.

The United States remains one of the largest drivers of continued expansion for the network, says comScore, with over 6 million unique visitors having frequented the site. More than 3.6 million Indian visitors, 1 million Canadian and British users and 920,000 Germans also helped bump up Google+’s tally.

While a good start, critics say it’s not necessarily an indicator of success, as MySpace, which has been on a steady decline for several years, also grew itself past this milestone previously. Twitter and Facebook additionally present strong competition with over 200 million and 750 million users, respectively.

The service isn’t Google’s first foray into the social networking space either, with initiatives like Buzz and Orkut failing to live up to expectation.
