Google Goes on Cloud Music, Digital Streaming Binge

Google has recently registered a number of music- and cloud-related website domain names, hinting toward growing intent to dominate the cloud music and online digital streaming spaces, according to TechCrunch.

Among the options just registered by the online search giant are sonically themed dot-com names including GoogleBass, GoogleAlto, GoogleSoprano and GoogleTenor, and cloud-inspired selections such as GoogleNebula, GoogleThunder and GoogleLightning, claims an anonymous source. As the site points out, while none of the domains presently links to functioning websites, a WHOIS search confirms Google’s ownership.

Little secret has been made of Google’s plans to introduce a new cloud music service and supporting Android Music 3.0 app. Interest in streaming on-demand music solutions continues to boom industrywide, with solutions such as Cloud Player, Mougg, Spotify,, Beyond Oblivion, SugarSync, MP3Tunes and more flooding the space.
