Give Away Apps With Your BlackBerry

BlackBerry smartphone users will soon be able to gift apps as birthday presents, everyday pick-me-ups and high-tech ways to show your love (or your lack of things to do at work).

Manufacturer Research in Motion (RIM) recently announced plans to add gifting functionality to its BlackBerry App World online market, letting you buy and send apps, airtime or other carrier services. Carrier billing will let you charge purchases right to your account, or pay via credit card and alternate methods.

While no official release date for the service has been given, we give it 2:1 odds you won’t see six months pass before colleagues begin generously besieging your cellie with copies of Handago’s “ingenious” Fart Machine app.
