Last night, before the final day of New York Fashion Week, MAC Cosmetics laid down the red carpet for a party in honor of their newest Viva Glam ambassadors, Nicki Minaj and Ricky Martin.

The event, held at 37 Studios in Manhattan, celebrated the launch of the newest MAC Viva Glam makeup line, which donates 100 percent of its profits to the MAC AIDS Fund. Since its inception in 1994, the charity has raised about $235 million to assist men, women and children living with and affected by HIV/AIDS. Previous Viva Glam ambassadors include Mary J. Blige, Cyndi Lauper, Lady Gaga and Elton John.

With DJ Benny Benassi on the decks, spinning remixed versions of Rihanna‘s  “We Found Love” and Heavy D & the Boyz’ “Now That We Found Love,” Fashion Week elite mingled among large, rotating MAC letters. Attendees included Kelly Osbourne, designers Christian Siriano and Alexander Wang, stylist Brad Goreski and model Coco Rocha. Assorted models and fashion industry members danced throughout the intimate space, which featured decor straight out of a candy store: pink balls, puckered lips, jewel-tone lights.

However, the ambiance was secondary once the guests of honor showed up. In a large plume of smoke, and to the sound of a revving engine, Martin appeared onstage next to the tiny Minaj, who was fresh off her controversial “Roman Holiday” performance at the Grammys.

“I just want to say it is an honor for me be part of this family,” said Martin, who will star in the Broadway show Evita next month. “This work is really valuable to try and create some consciousness.”

“We all know someone with HIV/AIDS,” Minaj added. “It’s a disease that doesn’t discriminate. No matter what your age is, please protect yourself.”

“And use a condom,” Martin added.

After their speech, Minaj made it to the dance floor briefly to greet her “Barbz,” as she calls her fans. She also met with Project Runway winner Christian Siriano, who dressed Minaj for her recent Saturday Night Live performance and made an outfit for her tour.

“I think they are two cool pop icons from different genres and different worlds,” Siriano told Rolling Stone. “I love that Ricky is a guy, and I like that mix, and I like that MAC supports that – supports men that are eccentric and playing in fashion.”
