Facebook users can now digitally rent more movies on demand via the social network for just $3. Five new or recent Warner Bros. films – Inception, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, Yogi Bear and Life as We Know It – have recently joined The Dark Knight as Internet rentals, and are currently available for online streaming.
To watch the films, available for a 48-hour viewing window once rented and only to U.S. audiences, users simply visit each film’s official Facebook page, click the “watch now” button and pay using the Facebook Credits virtual currency system. Shoppers can pause and resume film playback, watch films in full-screen mode and interact with friends by commenting on the movies or sharing status updates.
With growing interest in online movie streaming services from providers including Netflix and Amazon, and increasing public enthusiasm for digital film downloads, additional film title announcements are expected from Facebook.
