Although rumors continue to persist that Alanis Morissette’s 1995 song “You Oughta Know” is about Dave Coulier, the former Full House star said in a recent Buzzfeed interview that “it’s just really funny that it’s become this urban legend, so many years after the fact.”

Describing the person in Morissette’s song as “a real a-hole,” Coulier insisted that he didn’t want to be associated with that guy. It is notable, however, that Morissette never explicitly told Coulier that the song is not about him. Coulier adds: “I asked Alanis, ‘I’m getting calls by the media and they want to know who this guy is.’ And she said, ‘Well, you know it could be a bunch of people. But you can say whatever you want.'”

He goes on to say that the only reason he ever admitted that he thought the song was about him was because he was perpetually hounded by red carpet paparazzi, who were always asking him about the song.

Coulier also talked about how being a jokester on his sports teams as a kid inspired him to land his first voice-over work for Scooby-Doo, after which he auditioned for and got the role of Joey on Full House

Earlier this year, the Full House guys — Coulier, John Stamos and Bob Saget — had some fun with Jimmy Fallon, appeared in a Super Bowl ad, and got photobombed by Rihanna.

Coulier recently starred as one of five stand-up comedians on The Clean Guys of ComedyCoulier will be touring throughout the U.S. and Canada through December and will appear on Oprah: Where Are They Now on June 8th.
