Winners and losers dolled up equally to hit the red carpet at the Golden Globes on Sunday, and among them were a fair amount of musicians, including Best Original Song winner Madonna (in chainmail and gloves), her arch-nemesis Elton John and a darkly dapper Trent Reznor, who donned a Prada tux for the second year in a row. Mary J. Blige, as well as most of the Glee club, attended as well. Perennial award-show fixture Kelly Osbourne not only critiqued Hollywood arrivals’ ensembles for E! but donned a pretty memorable, unearthly look herself.
Then there were the actors with a rock-star appeal all their own. Rooney Mara ruled as the queen goth in a shadowy Nina Ricci gown, a look that rated highly with both Vogue readers and her macabre-obsessed #teamtattoo Tumblr cult alike. Angelina and Brad proved indestructible red carpet forces once more and Tilda Swinton looked as marvelously wintry (and, for L.A., as alien) as ever. Natalie Portman and Mila Kunis, both nominated last year for Black Swan and both Dior campaign royalty, showed up in very different looks: Kunis in a black couture gown from the line, Portman in a bright Lanvin gown.
