Barack Obama Will Watch ‘House of Cards’ on Valentine’s Day

President Barack Obama has big plans for Valentine’s Day: He’ll be firing up Netflix and watching the second season of House of Cards. Yesterday, the commander-in-chief tweeted, “Tomorrow: House of Cards. No spoilers, please.” He did not say whether or not Michelle was invited to binge-watch the 13 new episodes of the political drama with him, but the head of state did tweet that the first lady was “still the best Valentine.”

“We all know what the president will be doing this weekend,” executive producer Kevin Spacey, who stars in the show as U.S. Representative and House Majority Whip Frank Underwood, said on the red carpet of the season premiere, according to Variety. A screenshot of Obama’s tweet was the backdrop of the affair, which took place at the Director’s Guild of America theater in Los Angeles.
Kate Mara, who plays journalist Zoe Barnes, said that the tweet made her feel both flattered and uncomfortable. “It also really embarrasses me because I do some inappropriate things as Zoe, and I feel like it’s like my dad watching,” she said, according to The Hollywood Reporter. “I’m like, ‘Don’t watch episode five.'”
Spacey also said that he has heard praise from politicians besides Obama about his show. One just happened to be his real-life counterpart, majority whip Kevin McCarthy. “He once said publicly, and I was a little surprised he said it publicly, ‘If I could just kill one member of Congress, I wouldn’t have to worry about another vote,'” Spacey said.
