Music fans looking to share song listening sessions with a dozen or more friends can do so sans headphones or splitters using recently-released iPhone and iPod streaming audio app MyStream.
Free for download from iTunes, the iOS application allows those in the same room to join in listening to tracks played by a single mobile audio device when paired with a Bluetooth or WiFi connection. After parsing one’s digital music library and building a playlist, songs can be broadcast to several iPhones and iPods also equipped with the app, letting friends listen in and nod their heads along. An optional buy button, allowing listeners to purchase songs from iTunes, is also offered.
Six users can share in audio streams over Bluetooth while upwards of a dozen can enjoy group listening sessions over WiFi. Access to both full renditions of songs being actively streamed and 90-second sample clips of idle tracks from the master streaming user’s library is offered.
