After Adam Lambert successfully made the jump from American Idol runner-up to American Idol mentor, many of the singer’s fans began lobbying for him to replace Simon Cowell after the show’s most harsh judge leaves AI following this season to focus on the American version of his reality-talent competition The X Factor. However, in a webchat with MySpace U.K., Lambert denied the rumors he’s in line for Cowell’s job — at least anytime soon. “I keep hearing the rumor, too — unfortunately it’s just a rumor,” Lambert said. “I would be honored to be asked, but I think at this point I’m just focusing on my career as a recording artist.” Other rumored Cowell replacements include Howard Stern, producer Steve Lillywhite, Perez Hilton and current Idol host Ryan Seacrest.
In the interview with MySpace, Lambert also discussed what performers he’d most like to work with, and it should come as no surprise that the singer fans call the “Glittery Alien from Planet Fierce” lists Mr. Space Oddity himself at the top of his collaboration wish list. “To be able to work with David Bowie would be amazing — his imagination and creativity are beyond — he’s an icon,” Lambert said. He added he’d like to work with Christina Aguilera (“I love her voice”) and Rihanna (“Her tunes are so catchy and visually she is just giving you beauty”).
Even though Lambert is less than a year removed from his Idol season and only one album — For Your Entertainment — into his career, his fervent fans are already dreaming about a Glambert biopic. When asked which Hollywood star could possibly portray him on the big screen, Lambert answered, “I have always thought that Leonardo DiCaprio is a really good actor — he could get intense.”
