Actor Anders Holm Talks Swag, Momentum and What It’s Really Like Being Him

The daily hustle of a Hollywood hotshot

“Good luck trying to do what I do, ’cause it ain’t easy,” Anders Holm warned the Rolling Stone crew at the start of our day together. But we decided to take our chances anyway.

The day started out innocently enough—the actor invited us to go for a swim at a local public pool. But there was one catch: in his effort to show us the real Anders Holm from head to toe, he forgot his wallet (celebs wear leather pants to the pool, obviously, which don’t have pockets, obviously). You might think (as Holm did) that as a famous actor/comedian, you might not actually need to carry any money… but we (and he) soon learned that this wasn’t the case.

“One thing you guys should know about my lifestyle is that I’m pretty unstoppable,” Holm explained. “There’s something about keepin’ it real that just works, and I’m a testimony to that, you know?”

After the swim, Holm told us to wait outside while he had a “super big lunch meeting thing with important actors and directors. Hollywood stuff,” he explained. But as the dedicated journalists we are, we snuck in our cameras—and realized that perhaps Holm isn’t quite as cool as we imagined.

“Sometimes the laughing stops,” he told us in a moment of vulnerability. “And that fire you had burning in you, the swag, the rockstar swag is gone.”
