A Look At Amy Winehouse’s Final Collection for Fred Perry

A week after Jean Paul Gaultier’s wayward runway tribute to the late Amy Winehouse faced severe criticism from her family and supporters, Fred Perry has revealed images of their third and final collaborative collection with the singer. The successful partnership between the British lifestyle brand and Winehouse began in 2010, focusing on jaunty Anglo-centric elements like argyle, houndstooth, and Mod wear.

Spring 2012’s styles continue in that vein but also incorporate Winehouse’s interest in vintage Americana, and even “art deco Miami.” Cadillacs, jukeboxes, and other feel-good signifiers of the AM Gold era spring up throughout the collection as prints, while beachy pastels convey a rosy nostalgia, just in time for warmer weather.

Unlike Gaultier’s homage, which felt exploitative to Winehouse’s family, the Fred Perry x Amy Winehouse collection comes with their full blessing. Royalties and fees from both Spring 2012 and Fall 2011 will be donated to the Amy Winehouse Foundation, while Fred Perry itself will make a seasonal donation to the singer’s foundation.
