19 of Donald Trump’s Weirdest Celebrity Endorsements

From Wayne Newton to Mike Tyson, Trump’s long, strange endorsements list says a lot about his candidacy

Tila Tequila, Sarah Palin and Hulk Hogan have all endorsed Donald Trump for president.

Sarah Palin sent shockwaves through the Republican field Tuesday when she announced her support for Donald Trump — rather than her old buddy Ted Cruz — in a rambling speech in Ames, Iowa. Palin may be the most high-profile right-winger to endorse the candidate so far, but she's far from alone; the list of celebrities, politicians and personalities stumping for Trump is a veritable rogues gallery of oddballs and members of the political fringe. Here's a taste.

Gavin McInnes

Vice Media's co-founder — better known these days for his controversial views on race and gender — has expressed support for Trump. The thing that sold him? Trump's proposed ban on Muslims entering the United State.

"I want to focus now on his most recent faux-pas, where he said we need to ban all Muslims from returning to America," McInnes said in a December video. "Pretty irrational, pretty brash, pretty crass. That's what we need in this day and age — we're at war."

Hulk Hogan and Jesse Ventura

Former wrestler and reality TV star Hulk Hogan didn't just pledge his vote to Trump — he offered to throw his considerable weight behind the magnate by joining his ticket.

"I don't want to be in the ring with any candidates — I want to be Trump's running mate," Hogan told TMZ. He'll have some competition for the job, though, from one of his WWF contemporaries: Jesse "The Body" Ventura.

"If Donald Trump were to ask me to be his running mate, I would give it very serious consideration because anything to break up the status quo of this country," Ventura, who previously served as governor of Minnesota, said in August. "This country needs to be shaken up. It needs to be shaken to its very core, and Donald Trump is doing that."

Lou Ferrigno

Hogan isn't the only Hulk who wants to see Trump in the White House. Actor Lou Ferrigno has given the Donald his stomp of approval too.

"I wish Donald the best. He's a fabulous guy. I hope he goes all the way," Ferrigno told TMZ in July. "Donald, all he cares about is our country and keeping our country safe. That's what it comes down to."

Mike Tyson

Trump has former heavyweight boxing champion Mike Tyson in his corner as well. The real-estate mogul, whose properties have hosted four Tyson bouts over his career, defended the boxer's right to continue fighting after he was convicted of rape. (Trump suggested proceeds from the fights benefit rape victims, but officials didn't bite.)

"He should be president of the United States. He should be president of the United States. That's what he should be. He should be president of the United States," Tyson told HuffPost Live. "Why are people mad at the people 'cause this is who the people want to be president?"

Tyson also expressed his frustration with pundits talking down to Trump supporters. "They're telling us we're stupid. That's what they're telling us."

Stephen Baldwin

Donald Trump fired Stephen Baldwin twice — when he was a contestant on Celebrity Apprentice and on All-Star Celebrity Apprentice — but Baldwin hasn't held a grudge.

"I think he's fantastic. I love him. I think he'd make a great president," Baldwin told CNN. "He's not a politician, and he doesn't care what anybody thinks. And that's why he's surging in the polls. He says what he thinks."

Joe Arpaio

"America's Sheriff" Joe Arpaio — notorious for institutionalizing racial profiling in Maricopa County, Arizona — says Trump is the clear choice for president, even if others won't admit it.

"You're the patriots, and you've got a lot of people — believe me — a lot of people won't say it, but they support Donald Trump. They won't tell you, but when they go into that voting booth, watch out," Arpaio said while introducing Trump at a rally in December.

Willie Robertson

Willie's father, Phil Robertson, may be voting Cruz, but the Duck Dynasty star and Duck Commander CEO is a Trump man.

"I do like me some Trump. I gotta admit," Robertson said at an Oklahoma City rally in September. "Here's the deal: We're both successful businessmen. We both have pretty big shows on television. We both have wives that are 1,000 times better looking than us. So I do like Trump."

Trump Endorsements; Loretta Lynn

Loretta Lynn

Donald Trump has a fan in country singer and coal miner's daughter Loretta Lynn.

"Trump has sold me — what more can I say?" Lynn told a Reuters reporter before a Trump rally in Rock Hill, South Carolina. "I just think he's the only one who's going to turn this country around."

Lynn thinks her fans agree, too. "When you get up there and try to say you want to see Hillary Clinton win, that wouldn't go over so big," she said.

Jesse James

Jesse James, star of the reality show Monster Garage and a onetime Celebrity Apprentice contestant, endorsed his old "boss" Donald Trump on Facebook, writing at length about living with Trump for the six weeks he spent filming the show.

"I was able to observe him and his kids in their day to day routine. What I saw was a person that treated everyone with respect. Even the (Hispanic) guys in the mail room," James wrote. "This guy is the Real Deal, and will Make America Great Again."

Vojislav Šešelj

The far-right leader of Serbia's Nationalist party — who's currently awaiting the verdict of a UN tribunal on whether he committed war crimes in Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina — wants to "make America great again."

In early January, Šešelj tweeted, "I call on brother Serbs who live in the USA to strongly support Republican Party candidate Donald Trump in the upcoming presidential elections."

He and Trump might not have a lot in common, but they share a disdain for Muslims. Šešelj has campaigned for a "Greater Serbia" that would roll Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Kosovo and the Republic of Macedonia into one nation.

"If the Muslim fundamentalists don't like that, they can pack their bags and leave," he has said.

Avowed Obama hater, NRA board member and rock musician Ted Nugent has Trump fever

Nugent told the Rita Cosby Show he appreciates Trump's "bold, brazen, courageous, unapologetic politics in his stance…. His campaign is just what the working-hard, playing-hard American families have been waiting for."

"He would kick ass and take names, and that's what America needs right now," he said.

Dennis Rodman

Former Chicago Bulls star, ex-husband of Carmen Electra and occasional Kim Jong Un consort Dennis Rodman knows who he wants to see in the White House come January.

In July, he delivered his endorsement over Twitter. Trump "has been a great friend for many years," he wrote. "We don't need another politician, we need a businessman like Mr. Trump!"

Tila Tequila

Former reality TV star and present Internet conspiracy theorist Tila Tequila pledged her support for Trump in a YouTube video posted in October.

"I actually started looking into things that he's all about and I definitely think that he should definitely be our new president because, as you all know, I am very anti-vax and Donald Trump is also anti-vax," Tequila said.

She added that she digs his opposition to the Trans-Pacific Partnership and his views on Russia's involvement in Syria.
