Earlier this month, Chris Shiflett released "West Coast Town," the title track and first single off his forthcoming country album. Now, the Foo Fighters guitarist has shared a fast-paced new video for the song.
The clip features quick cuts of Shiflett singing and strumming his guitar on a beach, hanging out on an old-school boardwalk and exploring a small town. The imagery suits the lyrics of the hardscrabble country song, in which the Santa Barbara native sings of growing up in California "back before they chased the working class out."
For West Coast Town – his third solo effort – Shiflett recruited Nashville all-star Dave Cobb, the producer behind such albums as Jason Isbell's Something More Than Free and Chris Stapleton's Traveller. The pair recorded the album at Nashville's famed RCA Studio A.
In addition to maintaining a solo career, Shiflett also hosts the country and Americana podcast Walking the Floor. The most recent episode features a candid conversation with Americana pioneer Lucinda Williams.
West Coast Town is out April 14th. Shiflett will kick off a short run of tour dates on March 21st in Portland, Oregon.
