Singer-songwriter Craig Campbell made his first-ever appearance on the Today show July 19th, performing his new song "Outskirts of Heaven." The song will appear on the Georgia native's forthcoming album for Red Bow Records, which is currently being recorded.
In the pre-performance interview, Campbell notes that he'll soon be heading out on his first USO tour, including stops in Florida and Washington. The performance itself is characteristically soulful, finding an expression of rural pride that blends into a firm belief in the afterlife. When he dies and crosses over, he's hoping for a place where there's dirt roads for miles, hay in the fields and fish in the river. Once a common occurrence, the song's more traditional waltz arrangement now sounds strikingly different.
In 2015, Campbell released the song "Tomorrow Tonight," his first single as an artist with Broken Bow affiliate Red Bow Records. He is working with Mickey Jack Cones on his new album and has festival dates lined up through the summer, including the Dodge City Roundup Rodeo in Dodge City, Kansas on July 30th.
