Cassadee Pope strips down her song "Summer" for a special acoustic performance.

Cassadee Pope puts a chill spin on her warm-weather anthem "Summer" in a new performance for CMT's Next Women of Country Live. It's the singer and former Voice champion's latest single and she strips it down for the beach, highlighting her sun-kissed vocals and simple acoustic guitars.

Featuring nostalgic lyrics all about a summertime fling that ended up meaning so much more, her acoustic rendition of the tune puts Pope's pitch perfect and sometimes tongue-twisting delivery on full display. She sings about lingering memories of boardwalk make-out sessions and a feet-in-the-sand rendezvous that ended with the changing of the seasons, but the tone of the track isn't necessarily sad, making you wonder if maybe the pair will rekindle their romantic spark when next summer comes around.

Pope released "Summer" in June as the title track to her second EP, just after sharing a Number One with Chris Young on the breakup duet "Think of You." The four-song teaser serves as an appetizer for her upcoming second full album, which is still in the works.
