The next time you grab your phone to post a selfie, you might want to heed a little advice from Brad Paisley: the Internet is forever. In a new music video for "Selfie#Theinternetisforever" (a title that sounds like something one of your technology-inept relatives might type in a cryptic text), Paisley takes that point to the extreme, cobbling together some of the Internet's worst selfies, to hilarious, cringe-inducing effect.
The clip, which Paisley posted, appropriately, to Facebook, begins with the warning, "The following is a paid public service announcement." Viewers are then treated to horrible photo after horrible photo – scantily clad men, poorly timed bathroom breaks, and lots and lots of funeral selfies.
"You oughta be ashamed of your selfie," Paisley sings, before finally asserting, with an accompanying (in)appropriate visual, "You know you're really showing your ass."
"Selfie#Theinternetisforever" is off Paisley's forthcoming album Love and War, which is out April 21st and includes collaborations with Mick Jagger, John Fogerty and Timbaland. Later this month, he'll host the Wild West Comedy Festival Showcase, where, hopefully, he'll get a little more time to wax poetic about the dangers of the Internet.
