The state of Georgia has long been a hotbed of country music, and now some of its artists are coming together onstage to give back. The fourth annual Georgia on My Mind concert, hosted by the songwriting collective the Peach Pickers – Georgia natives Rhett Akins, Dallas Davidson and Ben Hayslip – is set for May 16th at Nashville's Ryman Auditorium.
Lauren Alaina and Kip Moore, both from the Peach State, and Chris Janson and Michael Ray are all set to perform. Along with a celebration of the state's musical history, the event is also a fundraiser for the Georgia Music Foundation, which fosters music education, preservation and outreach. To date, the Georgia on My Mind concert has raised more than $150,000.
The concert is just the latest addition to the Ryman Auditorium's busy anniversary season. On May 2nd, it'll host Emmylou Harris and the Nash Ramblers, two nights of Dylan Fest (a tribute to Bob Dylan) on May 23rd and 24th, and Marty Stuart's Late Night Jam on June 7th. The hallowed venue celebrates its 125th anniversary this year.
