The Old 97's

August 8, 2011

Rhett Miller and Murry Hammond of the Texas country rock band the Old 97's recently stopped by the Rolling Stone studio to perform a handful of original tunes from The Grand Theatre as well as a cover of the early Beatles song "I'll Cry Instead." After the set, Miller explained how the band split a large crop of songs over two volumes of The Grand Theatre, and how he was inspired to write a song every day while on tour with Steve Earle.
