Glen Hansard Plays New Solo Tunes
June 11, 2012
Irish songwriter Glen Hansard stopped by the Rolling Stone studio to perform a handful of cuts from his debut solo album, Rhythm and Repose, and "Come Away to the Water," a song he wrote for The Hunger Games that was recorded by Maroon 5. After the set, Hansard explained how he learned to be emotionally open in his music after his experience as a busker. "You can't go out on the street and be cool, you're just not going to make any money," he says. "You have to go out on the street and be bigger than you are, in some ways. You have to sort of lay it out."
