On Fox's Batman prequel series Gotham — which kicks off its third season tonight — Camren Bicondova portrays Selina Kyle, the girl who would one day take up the mantle of Catwoman. And while the upstart actress may just be 17 years old, when it comes to the future of her show, she's full of wisdom. In a new "Fan Theory Exploder" video exclusive to Rolling Stone, she took the time to work through a handful of the more popular (and far-fetched) fan theories circulating online.
Faced first with the prospect of the program's young Bruce Wayne growing up to be a sidekick to Selina's Catwoman instead of the full-fledged Batman, Bicondova simply laughs: "That's awesome." That concept had nothing on the next fan theory, however, which supposes that Selina's absent mother may still be alive and operating as the original Catwoman with the underground crime syndicate known as the Court of Owls. "That's brilliant, actually," she responds.
Bicondova is also conflicted over the suggestion that her character may sustain a mortal injury and have no choice but to get revived by the nefarious Hugo Strange, who might as well infuse her with a little feline DNA while he's at it. "I actually don't mind that idea," she says, "because he gave Fish the ability to hypnotize people. So I mean, that would be cool. I don't think Selina would like that very much."
And when considering a team-up between Selina Kyle and the future Poison Ivy, Bicondova teases, "In the comic books, [the all-female supergroup] the Sirens are Catwoman, Poison Ivy, and Harley Quinn ... so I could see this as a lead-up to Sirens [appearances]."
She does reject one theory right out of hand, however. For the rational-minded fans who wonder why Selina and Bruce Wayne don't just move out of the clearly villain-infested Gotham, Bicondova has a decisive answer: "No ... no. I don't like that. I can see Selina moving on her own and Bruce being an idiot and staying in Gotham. I can see Selina leaving, and then coming back and being like, 'BOW! I'm back.' Just like that."
